STE(A)M Education in South Carolina

The Current State of K-12 Education

Our world has changed dramatically since the 1970's yet our schools remain relatively the same.  Increased spending did not yield increased student achievement.

We're not preparing our students to succeed.  Something needs to change.

The Future:  South Carolina Has the Opportunity to Prepare Students for a Global Economy through STEAM Education Plans.

STEAM has opportunities to help students succeed while addressing workforce demands through an ecosystem approach combining in-school and out-of-school learning.

Our Reality:  Students Not Prepared for College and Workforce

Students are being placed in remedial courses, many not completing their degrees in a standard 4-year time-frame.

Students are not being trained to compete in the global economy.

STEM = Success

A well-rounded STEM education prepares today's students for tomorrow's jobs by developing key skills employers need.   SCCMS is a proud to be part of the STEMx network.
